"Hi Hockey Players,

Thank you all for making the two recent GVYHA Fund Raisers total successes. Thousands of dollars were raised!
The golf tournament this spring at Adobe Creek Nation was a blast; and it helped the GVYHA treasury in a big way.
Many, many thanks to all the volunteers that participated in the recycling effort at Country Jam. These efforts helped generate the needed cash to assure that the organization has the funds to start the season right!
As you may know, the Glacier Ice Arena has been recently listed for sale. ISI has been asked by many in the skating community "Why don't you just buy the Glacier?" Based on the listing realtor's information, the $1,500,000.00 asking price does not include the cost of repairs to the refrigeration system, boards, glass, and other necessary fixtures to make it function again as an ice rink. With the asking price, plus fixtures, plus repairs estimated at $800,000 (source: Sept. 19, 2011 Daily Sentinel), the purchase of the Glacier is not a viable option for ISI.
ISI is a not-for-profit organization with one goal: to promote ice sports in the Grand Valley. We look forward to Glacier's reopening. We are very committed to a positive working relationship with the Glacier's future owners, just as we had with the past owners. Our focus at this time must be to continue serving the skating community by operating the Grand Valley Skating Center.
