Frequently Asked Questions

Why did LegaZee build the rink instead of ISI?
After years of trying to find a way to construct a rink on their own, Ice Skating Inc continued to have difficulty securing the financing needed.  In order to avoid anymore costly delays, the Koos family formed LegaZee Properties, LLC and made the decision to purchase the land and assets Ice Skating Inc had acquired.  LegaZee Properties and the Koos family were then able to begin the rink construction immediately, while Ice Skating Inc is now free to focus on the community programs affiliated with the ice rink.
Who is LegaZee Properties, LLC.?
LegaZee Properties is a local company comprised of five siblings in the Koos family, with three of the Koos siblings living in the Grand Junction area.  The Koos family is a long time supporter of Ice Skating Inc and their dream of a community ice arena.  Alan Koos spent eight years working with Ice Skating Inc to make this dream a reality.  Alan stepped down from his position with Ice Skating Inc and joined with his siblings to construct, own, and operate the rink.  The rink opened in June of 2006.

What about the money I donated to Ice Skating Inc.?
All of the money donated to Ice Skating Inc that was used for land purchases, engineering fees, site work, etc, were reimbursed by LegaZee Properties so that they may now be used to support community programs associated with the rink, instead of the actual rink construction.  Basically, your generous donations will now be used for the reasons they were initially intended, community skating programs.
Why did the name of the rink change?
As many of you are aware, when ISI was planning to construct and operate the rink we received an extremely generous pledge from Charlene Giebler in return for naming rights to the rink.  With the change in ownership of the rink, ISI no longer had any claim to the naming rights.  ISI and the Giebler family have decided instead to re-name the Honor Ice Wall which will be prominently displayed in the rink lobby as well as possibly naming a figure skating competition in Charlene's honor.
